I am currently the team leader of the Canes on Canes Hurricane Outreach Team at the University of Miami. We were founded in 2014 and are comprised of knowledgeable and enthusiastic graduate and undergraduate students. Canes on Canes has developed a series of presentations to help educate the public about the science of hurricanes and hurricane preparedness. The content is informative, thorough, and can be tuned to a specific audience or allotted time.

AMS Student Conference Planning Committee
Member and Session Chair
Years Active: January 2019 - Present
I am an active member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Student Conference Planning Committee. As a committee member, I assist in planning the theme, speakers, panels, and activities for the annual AMS Student Conference. The goal of this conference is to engage students in the atmospheric sciences (undergraduate and graduate level) with opportunities in professional development, academic research, and career growth.
In addition to being a member of the main committee, I also work with the poster session subcommittee and am a chair for the Integrated Warning Team (IWT) session. In this session, students are able to join professionals from the broadcast industry, public sectors of meteorology, and emergency managers in two interactive workshops.
Under the guidance of these professionals, they learn how these groups collaborate to protect the public and how physical science and social science intertwine to support decision-making.
